General Construction
General construction for government agencies, prime contractors, and commercial facilities.
Our general construction division specializes in government projects. World-class customer service is our standard, so you can count on first-class work, done quickly and on budget.
We hold prime contracts, and we work teaming and subcontracting arrangements with larger and smaller companies. For a prime chasing small business subcontracting goals, our verified SDVOSB and DBE status is worth as much as our production.
Scope runs from a single trade work package to full sitework and building projects on active federal campuses — the kind where the facility does not close, the schedule was set before we arrived, and somebody signs their name to the inspection.
Working on an occupied site
A hospital campus does not stop for construction. Access routes, patient and visitor traffic, noise windows, and utility interruptions all get planned before mobilization — because on these jobs, the plan for staying out of the way is part of the work.

What happens after you call
- 01
Plans and site walk
We read the drawings and specs, then walk the site. On a federal campus that walk is where most of the real scope lives — access, staging, existing conditions, and everything the drawings assumed rather than confirmed.
- 02
Proposal and schedule
You get a scope-by-scope proposal against the contract documents, with a schedule built around the facility's operations rather than around ours.
- 03
Mobilization
Fencing, signage, protected pedestrian routing, and utility coordination go in before production starts. The plan for staying out of the way is part of the work.
- 04
Production and inspection
We build in the sequence the schedule needs, keep the work inspection-ready rather than inspection-driven, and report progress to the contracting officer or the prime.
- 05
Closeout
Punch, restoration, final cleanup, and the closeout documentation the contract requires.

- Does Industry Standard USA work as a prime contractor or a subcontractor?
- Both. Industry Standard USA holds prime contracts with federal agencies and also works as a subcontractor and teaming partner to larger and smaller firms, including multi-year teaming agreements. Its verified SDVOSB and DBE certifications can help a prime meet small business and socioeconomic subcontracting goals on a federal award.
- Can construction happen while a VA hospital or federal facility stays open?
- Yes — it is most of what Industry Standard USA does. Work on an operating campus is planned before mobilization: access routes and pedestrian detours, staging away from patient and visitor traffic, noise windows, dust control, and staged utility interruptions coordinated with facility staff. Past performance includes sidewalk and roadway construction through the Syracuse VA Medical Center campus and a parking lot expansion at the Montrose VA Medical Center, both on facilities that remained in operation.
- What does a general construction project with Industry Standard USA cost?
- Industry Standard USA prices each project from the drawings and a site walk rather than from a published rate. Cost is driven by scope, site and existing conditions, access and staging, schedule and phasing, material and disposal requirements, contract requirements such as prevailing wage, and whether the facility remains operational during construction. Call (315) 436-8654 or send the documents for a proposal.
